LYSTERFIELD PARK

Public BBQ

Lysterfield Park and Lake sits less than an hour from Melbourne and offers 15km of walking tracks suitable for hiking and mountain biking. The park is home to friendly kangaroos that allow close approach if you move slowly. A hill lookout provides a spot for picnics and breaks. The lake features crystal clear waters and picnic areas alongside the shore, with plenty of open space for children to play. The park has free public BBQs available, though reliability can be hit and miss. Around 75% of the time they work fine, but on busy days when spots are limited, there's a chance the unit won't fire up. The BBQ areas are mostly well-maintained and clean. Public toilets are available but could use upgrades. Walking trails are wide enough to accommodate the popularity of the site, with ample car parking available. Kangaroo droppings are common along paths. The atmosphere stays peaceful even when busy, with water birds wading through the lake. Wildlife sightings include the occasional echidna.
